RECYCLED cars have raised thousands of pounds for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.

Weldmar launched a scheme to recycle unwanted cars and other vehicles in 2013 and has so far raised £13,000, thanks to the support of Dorset residents.

Stuart Esmond, from Weymouth, responded to Weldmar’s request in the media asking for donated vehicles. Stuart recently lost his mother to cancer and donated her car to the hospice.

Stuart said “My father bought my mother the car, mainly because it had power assisted steering. This car is no longer needed and I wanted Weldmar to benefit from its value as they do such marvellous work”.

Weldmar have also been given vehicles that have a re-sale value, which may no longer be needed but have a value to others.

Jonathon Panton, Weldmar’s Business Fundraising Manager, said “All items are considered and I make the gift as easy a process for the donor as possible. We have been offered not just scrap cars but a horsebox lorry, a jet ski, and roadworthy cars that were no longer wanted by their owners”.

If you would like to help, contact Jonathan on 01305 261800 or email at jonathan.panton@weld-hospice.org.uk and he will arrange to view the items, arrange any necessary paperwork and organise the removal of the item.
