If you’re heading to Weymouth’s carnival why not try using the park and ride?

The service is £3 per vehicle for return bus travel for up to seven passengers and visiters can park all day.

The Dorset County Council run scheme has over 1,000 parking spaces, so there’s plenty of room. Buses will run from 7.30am, with last return services leaving Weymouth at 10.45pm.

The county council say they have enhanced the service for today, running more buses than ever before. Visiters can also now pay via mobile phone.

Cllr Peter Finney, the council’s spokesman for environment and economy, said:

“The park and ride is a cheap and stress free way to travel. It can take the hassle out of finding a parking space leaving you more time to enjoy the events in Weymouth.”

The buses will be dropping off and picking up on Commercial road, due to the closure of the Esplanade.

I would say, much more profitable for the local businesses than the stupid olympics. I think, looking at the number of people on the esplanade, it was a good day had by all.

And live music on the beach throughout the day was provided by your community radio AIR 107.2 FM (http://www.aironair

Thanks to the Echo for going out of its way to make no mention at all of such a massive contribution to the day's fun.

Time to put your petty media prejudice aside Echo. It really doesn't make you look good.
