This month it’s a case of using minimal effort and maximum impact, allowing the new season to reinterpret some old classics.

Let’s begin with mascara, every girl’s beauty go-to to awaken one’s obvious, standout features in a blink of an eye. This season, more is more, illustrated by the many catwalks including Gucci and Prada where lashings of mascara layers were applied, resulting in maximum impact, ultimately creating “power” lashes, now known as “maxcara”.

The advice from the professionals is “just when you think you’ve done enough, add one more layer”. The best eye-opening marvels that’ll achieve this look for you are MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Multi Effect Lash Mascara, £21, Max Factor Clump Defy Extensions Mascara, £11, and Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara, £23.50.

We all love to experiment with the smouldering smoky eye look, which usually comes in bronze, nude or grey tones, but this season sees a twist in shadow colour.

The conventional hues were swapped for shades of lavender, violet and mauve, reflecting catwalk beauty looks seen on the likes of Burberry and Chloe.

This ‘must-have’ feminine yet fierce eye hue is the new essential shade for any make-up bag and are best presented in Dior 5 Couleurs in Tutu, £42, Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Dolomites, £25, and Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy Eyeshadow 5-Colour Palette in Current Desire, £40.

Backstage witnessed an upbeat, purposeful and youthful edge to eyeliner, where black was forbidden and replaced by royal blues, metallic yellows and neon pinks seen at Kenzo, Badgley Mishka and Chanel.

As well as the colour, there was another artistic flair change from make-up artists, as the shape no longer focused on elongating the eyes, but to have the emphasis on creating a bold, blunt statement, essentially elevating eyes in order to make it appear more fun and current. Great examples of this look are Dior Addict It-Line in It-Pink, £24.50 and YSL Baby Doll Eyeliner in Bleu Patine, £25.

With a nod to Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, there’s nothing more classically beautiful than parading a perfect pout in a sexy red lipstick.

Aiding you with confidence when wearing it, a great rouge hue lipstick is your magic beauty ingredient.

Some things never change, but designers forever invent that extra special shade that’ll catapult you into new realms of desirability, even if it’s super subtle. Try these new season painters – Tom Ford Lip Colour in Cherry Lush, £36, MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Ruby Woo, £15 and Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick in Excessive Rose, £26.

In other beauty news, shoe designer extraordinaire Christian Louboutin has unveiled his first beauty range with a glossy, long-lasting and chip-resistant nail lacquer in the exact shade of red as the soles of every pair of Louboutin shoes.

The polish named Rouge Louboutin is housed in a faceted glass bottle and is topped with a dramatic ‘high heel’ lid that measures the same height as the designer’s classic Ballerina Ultima shoes. This is a total investment buy for any fashionista. A further 30 new polishes grouped into Nudes, Noirs and Pops will be available from September.

Until next time, stay beautiful!
