ACCIDENTS caused travel chaos on roads around Dorchester yesterday.

The A35 and A37 were both closed as officers worked to recover the vehicles involved.

Neither accident was thought to be serious and those involved did not require any medical assistance.

Road blocks were put in place both ways on the A35 between the Monkeys Jump roundabout and Long Bredy Hut Lane after a Land Rover towing a trailer registered to a Dorchester man crashed.

After the road was cleared, motorists were warned that there would be residual traffic delays.

A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said it was not called to the incident, but an officer was passing in a car at 2.18pm and stopped to help.

The incident, at the junction of the A37 and A352 Charminster junction, involved three vehicles.

A spokesman said: “The officer was passing. It was non-injury, apart from shock and the officer assisted the drivers of the vehicles to get recovery.”
