Two friends caused a stir in Weymouth town centre when they had their hair shaved off for a charity stunt.
Fiona James and Heidi Keyworth braved the rain over the bank holiday and had their heads shaved in aid of Cancer Research UK.
The pair had told a mutual friend, who is battling cancer, that if she lost her hair through treatment they would get rid of theirs in support.
Fiona said: “We picked possibly what was the worst day to do it, as it was raining very heavily, but a lot of people still turned out in support and donated very generously.”
She added: “It was a bit of a shock when I looked in the mirror but, as I keep telling myself, it will grow back and I’m lucky not to be ill.
“It is a horrible thing to suffer from when you are young yourself and have children.”
The stunt took place in St Thomas Street, and the Red Lion pub provided a gazebo so the fundraisers could stay dry.
Fiona said: “I’d like to thank them, and also the Chapelhay Tavern, who have been collecting money for us.”
There’s still time to donate.
