POLICE are hunting an intruder after an attempted burglary in Weymouth.

The victim, a 36-year-old woman, was at home on Walpole Street when she heard a car door slam loudly and got up to see what was happening.

She saw a person leaving her property through the front door.

The woman called out to the intruder who then fled through an alleyway opposite her home, toward Heron Court.

Police officers said they believe that nothing was taken during the incident.

The attempted burglary happened at around 10.50pm on Wednesday, August 27.

Police Constable Rob Hoskins, of Weymouth police, said: “I am keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have seen the offender in the area of Walpole Street or Ranelagh Road at around 10.50pm on Wednesday 27 August 2014.

“The intruder was described as wearing either a white hooded top that had a black torso with white sleeves, or a black body warmer over a white hooded top. The top had a large white old style Adidas logo on the back.

“I ask anyone with information that can assist the investigation to contact the police in confidence.”
