COASTGUARD ROUNDUP: Ambulance crews asked for help rescuing a man with a head injury near Weymouth.

On Wednesday afternoon South Western Ambulance contacted Portland Coastguard asking for assistance with a man suffering a head injury at Ringstead.

Wyke Regis Coastguard Rescue Officers were sent but were stood down en-route after the casualty was safely recovered by ambulance personnel.

At 4.55pm, Grace, a 17ft angling vessel called Portland Coastguards requesting a tow back to West Bay after suffering engine failure south of Seatown.

The West Bay harbour launch responded and towed the vessel and its two occupants back to safety.

Just after 11pm Wyke Regis Coastguard Rescue Officers were asked to investigate a RIB craft that was floating in Weymouth Harbour and could be seen from the Operations room window.

The coastguards managed to snag it, drag it to the side, secure it alongside another vessel and establish that there was no life at risk. It is thought to have come untied from elsewhere in the harbour.
