THE Dorset Police helicopter has been helping in a search around Weymouth for a suspect after a possible break-in.

Police were called at 9.50pm this evening by a member of the public who reported 'suspicious activity' in the Wyke Regis area.

It was thought there had been a break-in after a man was seen running away carrying property thought to be stolen, a Dorset Police spokesman said.

The helicopter helped officers on the ground search for the man but has since returned to base.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing. No-one has been arrested.
