DANCERS from Weymouth will be taking part in an international performance spectacular at the Royal Albert Hall.

Talented dance students from Quay Theatre Arts in Weymouth will be joining 23 other dance acts at the fourth annual Dance Proms at the Royal Albert Hall on November 2.

The students will be performing on stage in front of an audience of dance lovers and celebrity patrons, including Darcey Bussell CBE, Kimberly Wyatt and Wayne Sleep OBE.

The dancers will be sharing the iconic stage with students from afar afield as Spain, Malta and Israel, as well as with a variety of celebrity guest acts including Matthew Golding and Akane Takada from The Royal Ballet. Jill Tindale, the principal teacher at Quay Theatre Arts, said: “Dancing at the Royal Albert Hall is a thrilling and exhilarating experience and we are so grateful to Dance Proms for giving us this amazing opportunity.”

The students will be performing a modern piece called Sail, music by AWOLNation. All of the boys in the performance were born in Weymouth and have danced together since they were young. It is even the second time for brothers Charley and George Vincent to have the opportunity to perform together in Dance Proms, having already performed a lyrical modern dance in 2012 at the dance spectacular.

Darcey Bussell CBE, Patron of Dance Proms and President of the Royal Academy of Dance, said: “Dance Proms is an important event because it promotes and champions the very best young dance talent. It also reflects the pure enjoyment that is gained by dancing, especially in groups.

“Every year I am amazed at the young dancers who wow us with their skill, creativity and extraordinary talent.

“These dancers are the future of dance, many will become the stars and role models of tomorrow. To dance on the iconic Royal Albert Hall stage is an experience the dancers will never forget!”

To qualify for Dance Proms 2014, dance teachers submitted a short dance piece featuring original choreography in any genre.
