MOTORISTS are facing delays after a collision between a coach carrying schoolchildren and a car in Piddletrenthide.

The incident happened at 4.15pm this evening on the B3143, between the Piddletrenthide junction and the B3142 junction in Higher Waterstone, when a coach which was transporting schoolchildren and a car collided with each other.

There are traffic tailbacks as the road has been blocked in both directions and Dorset Police are now on scene.

The authorities have said the crash is not a serious collision but have advised motorists to avoid the area as the recovery of the vehicles will take some time.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “We were called to the incident at 4.15pm by the ambulance service which involved a collision between a coach carrying schoolchildren and a blue Hyundai on the B3142 in Higher Waterstone.

“The collision doesn’t appear to be serious and there doesn’t appear to be any injuries.

“The road will remain for a short time as the road is cleared of the debris from the crash and recovery.”
