A SERVICE of welcome was held for the new Superintendent of the Weymouth Circuit of the Methodist Church, the Reverend Jean Quick.

The service was held at the Weymouth Bay Methodist Church and was also attended by Dr Revd Andrew Wood, chairman of the Southampton District as well as members from all the Methodist Churches in the circuit and representatives of other denominations in Weymouth.

Church member Sally Hudson said: “The Revd Andrew Wood preached and the service was led by local preacher Jean Churchill, helped by other members of the Weymouth circuit.

“Various hymns were sung including We have a Gospel to proclaim, Jesus is Lord, Lord for the years and I, and The Lord of the sea and sky.”

She added: “The presentation, promises and welcome were led by the Revd Dr Andrew Wood and then the Rev Jean was welcomed to the circuit by the circuit steward Ross Seagrave and local preacher representative Sam Mason. Father Jeremy Brading from Chickerell welcomed Rev Jean on behalf of the other Christian denominations in the Weymouth area.”

There were also representatives from Bognor Regis, Dorchester, Portesham and Portland.

After the service there were refreshments and a chance for church members to meet the Rev Jean.
