A LORRY has crashed into a telegraph pole in Weymouth.

The incident happened just before 1pm on Wyke Road when the lorry collided with the pole, which resulted in the pole falling onto the road.

The road was closed off between the Lanehouse Rocks junction and the Rodwell Road junction as emergency services attend the scene.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “We were called to the incident at 12.53pm this afternoon to a report of a road traffic collision involving a HGV vehicle and a telegraph pole on Wyke Road, near to the Marina Gardens junction.

“An ambulance was also called to the incident.

“The road has been blocked by the telegraph pole and the road has been closed from the Lanehouse Rocks junction to the Rodwell Road junction.”

Workmen are currently on scene repairing the electrical wires before they move the pole off the road.

A spokesman for South West Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 1.27pm, to a male casualty who was complaining of neck injuries.

“The injuries were only minor and the man was treated on scene.”

The road has since re-opened.
