A NEW business park on the outskirts of Weymouth has unveiled new units designed for the use of local businesses.

The second phase of construction at Link Park on Chickerell Link Road is now complete and developers DJ Property has unveiled seven new units with the first business, Weymouth based cycling-shop Mud Sweat & Gears, moving in earlier this month.

The state-of-the-art units measure between 1,650 square feet and 2,500 square feet and were designed specifically for the use of local businesses after the units from the first stage of construction were taken on by national chain stores.

Construction at the site is still on target to finish by the end of 2015, which will eventually provide more than 50,000 square foot of retail units Mickey Jones, chief executive of DJ Property, said: “Phase 1 at Link Park let very quickly to national brands such as Euro Car Parts, Halfords Autocentre, Topps Tiles, Toolstation and Screwfix .

“DJ Property as a trusted, professional developer of commercial property continues to build long-term relationships with many local, national and international businesses.

“The new units measure between 1,650 square foot and 2,500 square foot and these units were designed to attract local small to medium sized businesses that are looking to expand their business into high quality new commercial space.” Previously located at Granby Court, the Mud Sweat and Gears transferred to its new premises at the start of this month.

Andy Leach, founder of the company, said “As the largest independent cycle business in Weymouth we are excited about moving to larger, brand new premises.

“We already have showrooms in Bridport and Dorchester but the Weymouth unit will be our showcase in terms of cycle displays, equipment, repairs and clothing.

“We started out in 1996 at the Littlemoor Garden Centre before relocating to Granby Court in 2003, our growth has been steady during this time but we have now outgrown out space and as our lease ended in our current building it was the ideal opportunity to grow and relocate to Link Park.”

Mr Leach added: “By working with developers in the early stages of construction we were almost able to design our own business unit which will have offices.”
