A GROUP of youngsters from a Weymouth theatre school will be centre stage in a West End Theatre next month, but they need your help to be in the spotlight.

Nineteen pupils aged 8 to 15 from Razzamataz theatre school are preparing for a show-stopping performance at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London on November 16.

Their big performance takes place on November 16, but in order to realise their dreams they need to raise money to cover the cost of the important occasion.

The students will also be performing alongside other students from Razzamataz schools across the country. Principal Lauren Whitehead said: “We are so proud of our 2014 West End cast. They work incredibly hard each and every single week, and as a teacher it is a huge honour to see them grow in confidence as they rehearse for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Lauren added: “Obviously costumes, travel, props and set are a huge expense for us, which we are trying to cover through fundraising events and sponsored activities. We are hoping to raise enough money to pay for the cost of the coach, which is over £1200. Any donation would be massively appreciated.”

She said the hopeful young stars are holding a Halloween disco, open to all children, at Wyke Regis Infants School to raise cash for the cause.

Amy Hoddy, 13, from Weymouth, is a student at Razzamataz and said: “Going to London is a big cause for us, not a lot of people our age get to go to the West End and to give children this chance would be amazing, to show what we can do.”

The Razzamataz Halloween disco takes place on Friday, October 24 from 6pm and tickets cost £2.50 per child. Tickets can be purchased from Lauren by calling 01305 770632.
