A MAN has suffered head injuries after falling 15 feet off a building in Weymouth.

Three ambulances and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance rushed to the scene on Commercial Road shortly after 10.20am on Monday.

The casualty, a man in his 40s, was arlifted to Southampton General Hospital in the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, which landed in Swannery Car Park. 

An eyewitness, who did not want to be named, believed the man had plunged out of a first floor window of Charlotte Guest House.

"It was all a bit hectic" he said. "There were sirens blazing all down the road.

“I heard someone had come out of the first floor window of the guest house and was taken away by the helicopter. There were loads of police cars and ambulances, and it looked quite serious.”

A spokesman for South West Ambulance Service said: "We received the call at 10.21 this morning to Commercial Road in Weymouth.

"On arrival, there was one casualty who had sustained head and leg injuries after falling 15 feet off a building.

"The injuries he sustained are serious." 

Police are continuing to investigate the incident, but are not currently treating it as suspicious.

The injured man is still in hospital with serious injuries.

Sergeant Andy Jenkins said: "We are looking at one male and all we know at the moment is that he has sustained injuries. 

"We will continue our investigations to find out how he’s sustained those injuries. At the moment we’re not treating it as suspicious. We were called to the scene after reports there was a man lying in the road.

“I don’t know the extent of his injuries at the moment but we are urging any witnesses or anyone with information to contact us 101, quoting incident number 27:111."
