WEYMOUTH has been chosen as the perfect set for a psychological thriller.

Cameras have moved into the town to film parts of the new movie ‘And Then I was French.’

Weymouth is the hometown of the film’s associate producer Leila Mousavi, who said it is a ‘great location’ to shoot.

Leila, who now lives in London, said: “When I was asked to produce this film I knew I wanted to film part of it in Weymouth.

“It is just such a great location.

“I would like to do more projects down here.

“The film is about transformation.

“It’s a girl meets guy story, but the girl starts to change herself for him.

“It’s kind of an antidote to a romantic comedy.”

Leila is filming a number of the scenes Weymouth College where she used to study and has enlisted the help of around 20 students.

“I had a really good time at Weymouth College and I always thought if I ever make a film I would love to come back here.

“I have been really impressed with the students who have got involved.

“They are all working really hard and they’re brilliant,” she said.

Students working with the production have been helping as runners and a few are starring as extras.

Media studies student Marti Guiver, 17, said: “I have been doing running but I’ve also been getting involved with the crew as a sound assistant and camera assistant and have been able to work lots of different departments.”

Ruth Wild, 47, who is studying photography at the college, said: “It’s a great opportunity for people living in a small area like Weymouth to work with a big London company.

“The amount I’ve learned is unbelievable.

“I didn’t realise how much goes into filming.”

The film, which is being produced by the independent filmmakers Dog Eared Films, is going to take approximately five weeks to complete and crews are scheduled to film in Weymouth for 11 days.
