1) Get freaky on the streets of Weymouth

Young and old can enjoy Freaky Streets, taking place from 10am to 4pm in Weymouth town centre.

There will be a Frightfully Freaky Skateboard Display and Workshop in New Bond Street, face painting, wizardly magic and spooky ballooning, a pavement art workshop, chilly tales and crypty chips and an eerie storytelling and crafts session.

The day has been organised by the Weymouth Business Improvement District and there will be a noticeboard at the Weymouth BID stand in New Bond Street with a full programme of events on.

2) Shiver your timbers at a pirate weekend

See more strange sights as pirates take to the streets of Weymouth town centre tomorrow and Sunday.

The Weymouth Pirate Festival includes stories of ship wrecks on the TS Pelican in Weymouth harbour and a night of free entertainment in the Golden Lion pub featuring The Dolmen.

3) Have a chuffin' time at a model rail show

See how grandpa and even great grandpa played trains at the biggest model rail show in the West Country tomorrow and Sunday at Wey Valley School in Weymouth.

These yesteryear models, pictured inset, some still going strong after 100 years in the toy box, are among the 35 top exhibition layouts at the Weymouth Model Rail Show.

Also in the show will be a display called the “Antiques Rail Show” which features larger clockwork, electric and steam locomotives in working condi-tion, some over 100 years old.

There will be 11,000 square feet devoted to the hobby, with layouts, including live steam, in different gauges.

Antiques expert, author and railway enthusiast Paul Atterbury will judge the best layout in the show at 11am on Saturday.

The show is open from 10.30am to 4.30pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

Admission is £5 for adults, £12 for a family £12 and £2 for an accompanied child.

4) Take a fright flight

Freaky Halloween flights will be taking place on the Weymouth Tower from today to Sunday. There will be tales of Weymouth’s spooky past overlooking the historic harbour, beach, Jurassic Coast and Portland.

5) Enjoy some costume japes with the apes

Show up in Halloween costume at Monkey World today and you’ll get free entry.

6) See if your feet can stand the heat

Walk the hot coals for charity at a Charity Fire Walk today in aid of the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust at the Joseph Weld Hospice in Dorchester.

The safety briefing is at 6pm and the walk is at 7pm. Registration is £20. Register online at weld-hospice.org.uk/firewalk

7) Take a walk on the wild side

8) Keep it in the family

See Thomas Hardy’s family records on display at Owermoigne Church tomorrow from 9.30am to 5.30pm.

The complete Registers of Owermoigne Church from 1569 till today will be on display.

Come and look up your family records and enjoy free tea, coffee and biscuits.

9) Sing like you just don't care

Warm up your vocal chords and join in the Big Sing at Poole Lighthouse tomorrow.

You don’t need to be the next Katherine Jenkins or Alfie Boe – you just need a passion for singing. Enjoy lively workshops with the inspirational choir leaders Stephen Deazley and Eugene Skeef who’ll have you singing Commonwealth-style.The event takes place between 12noon and 5pm and costs £5 to join in.

10) Scare yourself silly at Studland

A family Halloween evening, with cider and sausages, is being held on the beach at Studland from 6pm to 8pm tonight.
