AN UPLIFTING concert will be held in Dorchester tonight celebrating friendship between two communities.

Singers from the Dorchester Choral Society are performing at St. Mary’s Church, Edward Road, at 7.30pm, fresh from a performance in Luebbecke, Germany.

They will be joined by members of the Luebbecke Kantorei choir and by French choristers to perform Sir Michael Tippett’s A Child of Our Time.

Choir members recently joined Luebbecke Kantorei choir in Germany with a very full orchestra, to perform A Child of Our Time.

Member Anthony Gannon said: “The choir members were left drained by the full-on emotions, the force of the orchestra and the stamina required.

“Wine bottles were also drained as part of the celebration for the twinning experience and the friendship between the two communities.

“A hundred years ago we were at war and so the peace of nearly 70 years is to be cherished. Tippett shows that we all have a dark side that we must face and expunge before we can be whole.”

The concert starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £15 for the central aisle or £12 for side aisle seats. For information call Anthony Gannon on 01305 262005.
