A WEYMOUTH school is celebrating top marks after being judged as ‘outstanding.’

Inspectors found that All Saints School students have ‘outstanding spiritual insight and moral perspective’.

All Saints is a Church of England School which currently has 838 pupils and was inspected under the National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools.

During the inspection, a maths teacher said there is a ‘warmth’ to the school, which currently has 838 pupils.

In the inspection, it was noted that:

  • The school, through its distinctive Christian character, is outstanding at meeting the needs of all learners.
  • Achievement and progress compare well with local and national outcomes and continue to improve. Students and parents bear witness to the high quality of care, wellbeing and fairness they experience. The most significant outcome of outstanding leadership and management are the positive attributes that the students possess at the end of Year 11.
  • They have outstanding spiritual insight and moral perspective, high personal aspirations and a deep appreciation of the value of belonging to a united and cohesive community. They are mindful young world citizens with a strong sense of identity.
  • The outstanding distinctiveness and effectiveness of All Saints School is the result of integrated teamwork by all concerned with each element fulfilling its role successfully.

It was also found students of other faiths and those of no faith feel fully valued as members of the All Saints’ community.

Headteacher Paul Gray said: “The inspection report vindicates the view of Governors, staff, students and parents that All Saints is a very special community. The outstanding status will further renew our commitment to ensure our students are high achieving people of character, spiritually and morally equipped to embrace the many challenges of the modern world.

“When I first came to Dorset over three years ago, I was reminded that I was joining a community with so many connections in the service sector – whether it be health, armed forces or tourism. It is a real privilege to be part of the leadership of a school community that is so committed to Christian values such as service, selflessness and care for others.

“The statutory inspection of church schools is now an even more rigorous process than ever before. Few schools achieve outstanding status let alone ‘with no action points’.

“Education can so easily reduce individuals to a set of numbers on a spreadsheet. By recognising our commitment to high standards and developing young people of character, this report reaffirms that church schools can provide a unique education that is intellectually rigorous and personally formative.”

“This report is a celebration of the families, parishes, friends and staff of the school - past and present, who have helped make the All Saints of today a place that ‘feels like family’ and ‘an outstanding church school’.”
