VANDALS caught on camera kicking over a motorbike have been branded as 'mindless.'

Chris Burdon, 31, from Lennox Street, Weymouth, is appealing for help from the public to identify two people seen on CCTV, one of whom kicks over his Honda motorbike.

He was asleep at the time of the attack, and only found the damage to the bodywork and scratches to the paint work the next day.

A neighbour gave him a copy of CCTV that shows the attack and has also been passed on to the police, who are investigating.

The footage shows two people walking down Lennox Street at around 10.15pm on Wednesday, November 12. As they pass the motorcycle, one lashes out, kicking the bike over, before the pair continue walking down the road.

Neighbours can be seen to come out of their houses and help to pick up the 125cc bike.

It is believed the same pair are on camera walking back along the road the other way 10 minutes later.

Mr Burdon has been riding a motorbike since March and only recently moved down to Weymouth.

He said: “I didn't actually hear it get knocked over. The first thing I knew was when I went out the next day.”

He found the lock wrapped round the front wheel, scratches and damage to the body work and back box.

He said: “At first I felt really angry, then I thought who would do such a thing? I just moved to Weymouth and I don't know anyone down here. Who would do something like that?”

Mr Burdon said it would have taken some force to knock the bike off the stand. It is currently being repaired and the damage will cost £150 to fix.

He branded the vandals as 'mindless' and asked why they did it. He added: “The person didn't even run off. They just kept walking.”

Mr Burdon is urging people to help police trace the criminals, adding: “If anyone can recognise them, if anyone knows them please contact the police.”

Borough councillor for the area Francis Drake urged people to call the police if they had any information. He said: “We can't allow people to damage other people's property.”

A Dorset Police spokesman said: “The incident was reported to us at 11.06am on November 13. The incident occurred between 10.15pm - 10.30pm on November 12.

“A white Honda motorcycle was kicked over by a person or persons.

“A pedal has been damaged and there are scratches to the bodywork.”

Anyone with information about the incident should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 12-481.
