A MYSTERIOUS 100-year-old bottle of brandy left in a will to two charities has gone under the hammer.
The drink was bequeathed to both the RNLI and the World Wildlife Fund UK (WWF UK) 34 years ago.
It sold at auction in Sherborne on Friday for £520, which will be split equally between the two charities.
A generous bequest made by Mrs Mary Sennett who died in 1980, the historic bottle of F.Latour and Co Vieille Reserve Cognac arrived at RNLI headquarters in 1990 to be locked away in a sealed box for 24 years.
The terms of the gift stipulated that in 2014, the bottle be sold at auction and the funds shared equally between the RNLI and the World Wildlife Fund UK.
