PUPILS from Knighton House enjoyed an educational trip to the Somerset countryside.
Children from years 3, 4 and 5 at Knighton House School visited the Magdalen Project near Chard to enjoy a day of educational experience outside the classroom. The Magdalen Project is a working farm set in 132 acres of Somerset countryside.
The project offers children and adults the opportunity to learn new skills, develop a deeper understanding of the countryside and learn that sustainability should be fun.
Pupils had the opportunity to have a go at being farmers for the morning. They visited, cuddled and fed the chickens and discovered a couple of expert chicken catchers among themselves.
They also visited the pigs, who enjoyed a good scratch, but a couple of children had to be rescued because their boots got stuck in the muddy paddock. Meanwhile, some of the year 5s were learning to make fires, and were collecting eggs and roasting marshmallows on the open fire.
They then made some tasty omelettes on the cob oven using eggs they had collected earlier. All the girls then took part in a bug hunt and found variety of fascinating bugs.
