A BUILDER and landscaper is offering his services to Dorset schools for a free makeover.

Carl Mintern, boss of Mintern Building and Landscaping Ltd, is offering to provide his time and materials free of charge for any odd jobs schools need doing.

His company is based at Henstridge in Somerset, close to the Dorset border, and he has already been helping schools in the immediate vicinity.

Generous boss Carl is now looking to extend his help to schools elsewhere in Dorset and is keen to hear from any that need repairs and maintenance work carried out.

Jobs could range from repairing or painting fences to trimming hedges and removing waste or changing broken latches on gates to changing light bulbs.

Carl said: “The schools and I put a list together of jobs that need doing and I come in, with a team of two tradesmen, at the weekend to get the jobs completed.

“We put a note in the school newsletter and ask for as many parents as possible to come and volunteer their services.

“I will be on hand at all times together with my team.”

He said that he has three children at primary school and understands the importance of schools being able to put all their resources into teaching rather than spending it on odd jobs and maintenance, which is why he was keen to lend a helping hand to allow schools to avoid those costs.

Carl said: “I’d rather local schools spent their money on books and education than paint.”

He is keen to hear from schools and anyone who would like more information or register their interest can contact Carl on 07977 070737.
