RESIDENTS are urged to raid the attic and dig out old items as experts come to town to value collectables.
National auctioneers Warwick and Warwick are holding a free valuation day in Weymouth on Tuesday.
The company has experts in coins, banknotes, stamps, medals and militaria, postcards and cigarette cards, die-cast toys and models, and model railways.
It recently sold a Dorset hero’s military medal at auction for £2,070.
A spokesman for Warwick and Warwick said: “Many people do not realise that they have possessions of value. Coin collections are fetching high prices at present, especially those made of gold, the value of which has rocketed in recent months.
An advisory day will be held at the Hotel Rembrandt on Tuesday, December 2 from 9am to 1pm.
The auctioneers say that home visits may be possible if the collection is particularly large.
