RESIDENTS in the Beaminster area are being invited to get more involved in their area.

The invitation comes from the Beaminster and Villages Local Area Partnership (BAVLAP), which wants to see Beaminster as a thriving and vibrant hub surrounded by lively and sustainable villages. BAVLAP’s chairman Rosemary Beeny said: “I would encourage people with an interest in their local community to get involved in BAVLAP, and we’re particularly keen to have new members from Beaminster and the rural parishes and villages.

“We’ve had some great achievements this year, securing funding for another three years to keep the service point of the Beaminster branch of the First Dorset Credit Union here at Yarn Barton Community Centre, supporting the work of the Beaminster Food Bank, and finalising our action plan for the Beaminster area for the next three years.”

The partnership held its agm on Wednesday at the Beaminster Cricket Club Pavilion, where people were invited to come and find out what the partnership has been doing for the Beaminster area.

Mrs Beeny said: “The evening provided the opportunity to meet people from a range of local community organisations, hear more about the work of BAVLAP and how they could be a part, and to speak to the new Bridport Citizens Advice Bureau manager, Rovarn Wickremasinghe.”
