A WEYMOUTH business owner hosted a surprise VIP visit when pop stars Perrie Edwards and Zayn Malik popped into their café yesterday.

Brewers Tea café, based at Brewers Quay in Weymouth, was the destination of choice for the Little Mix singer and her One Direction fiancée on their latest visit to the town.

Laura Rogers runs the café with her business partner Simon and said of the chance encounter: “I was really surprised, it was a very quiet morning and we were probably the only people in the café.

“When I saw them walk in I didn’t realise it was them at first because they looked like any other couple and were so happy and natural together.

“I thought he looked a bit like someone from One Direction and then I realised it was actually Zayn.”

Laura said the pair, both 21, also had a look around fashion shop Sheek Bootique with Perrie’s mum and told staff they were shopping for things for Mr Malik’s new flat in London.

“They were going all round Brewer’s Quay and bought a lot of stuff, and Zayn was trying on clothes too. They said they loved shopping at independent shops which was why they were going round Brewers Quay,” she said.

Perrie grew up in Weymouth and attended Radipole Primary School and June Hornby’s Weymouth Dance Studio before she shot to fame as a member of girl group Little Mix, who won ITV’s The X Factor in 2011.

This visit to the town comes after Mr Malik reputedly bought a house in Dorset for Miss Edwards’ mother.

Since the picture was posted on social media, images of the pair’s visit have been retweeted on Twitter by hundreds of fans all over the world.

Laura said the couple were ‘very friendly and approachable’.

She added: “They make a really cute couple – they were laughing and joking; very happy.

“It was a breath of fresh air on a Monday morning.”
