A CHEF at a Purbeck Hospital has been recognised for her culinary creations.
Senior cook at Swanage Community Hospital Claire Thompson claimed two silver medals and a bronze at the annual Salon Culinaire catering competition.
The competition was organised by the Wessex Branch of the Hospital Caterers Association and another Dorset chef, Greg Coomer from St Ann’s, also claimed a number of awards.
Claire, who was recognised for her afternoon tea, Victoria Sandwich, cold dessert, bread and biscuits, said: “It is very satisfying that our usual standard of food has gained so many awards.
“We’ve also come away with lots of fantastic ideas and information about ways to keep improving our patients’ mealtimes.”
Dorset Healthcare catering manager Lynne Allner said: “The awards were a tremendous success, with 24 competitors entering across 60 categories.
“The standard of entrants this year was excellent.
“We are lucky to have Greg and Claire within our team, as they consistently cook food that is enjoyed by our patients, visitors and staff alike.”
