A CHURCH on Portland will be looking to get to the heart of the matter on Valentine’s Day this year.

Easton Methodist Church is offering couples the opportunity to renew their vows before being treated to a spot of high tea.

In what’s being described as a Valentine’s Day Special, the church will hold a short service for interested couples on Saturday, February 14, starting at 3pm.

Following the service, each couple will have a table and be able to experience high tea in the church hall.

Rev Chris Briggs said: “Valentine’s Day has become highly commercialised and it’s really great fun but sometimes this kind of commercialisation and the pressure of buying things all over the place can sometimes be too much for people.

“We just wanted to celebrate love.

“This is the first time we have done this.

“One of the things that makes it a good opportunity to trial it this year is that it falls on a Saturday.

“If this works, we will see if there’s a way of doing this next year.”

This is a free event but booking is essential.

Couples may dress smart or come casual but the service will be short and simple.
