A WEYMOUTH girl has chopped her hair off to provide a wig for youngsters who are suffering from cancer.

Teesha Bussell, eight, asked her mum Amanda to cut five inches off her long hair as she wanted to help young girls and boys who are going through cancer treatment and have lost their hair.

The hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust and will be turned into a wig to be given to a child for free.

The charity provides real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland.

Pop star Jessie J donated her locks to the charity back in 2013, following her live TV head shave for Comic Relief.

Teesha asked her mum Amanda, 44, to cut her hair as she is a hairdresser.

Teesha and big sister Whitney, 11, had been chatting about donating to the charity.

Cancer-related charities are close to the heart of the entire family.

Amanda’s father, John Robbins, sadly died nine years ago from the condition and Amanda herself has just received the all-clear after being affected by skin cancer.

She said that fortunately she did not have to have chemotherapy but that Teesha’s generous donation would hopefully help someone going through it.

Amanda said of her diagnosis: “It absolutely frightened me to death.

“It was horrible.

“You never think you are going to get it.”

She said her daughter looked lovely with her new short hair and that all her school friends had been really supportive of her decision.

Amanda added: “I’m so proud of her.”
