ONE person has been taken to hospital following a crash between a car and a motorbike on Weymouth Avenue in Dorchester.
The incident happened at 6.40am this morning between the junction with Maiden Castle Road and the Tesco Roundabout and the road has been closed in both directions.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said the collision involved a silver Skoda Octavia and a red Kawasaki motorcycle.
A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said the male rider of the motorcycle was taken to Dorset County Hospital following the collision with a neck injury, although it is not thought to be serious.
The driver of the car was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.
Police have closed the road in both directions to allow for the recovery of both of the vehicles, and motorists are facing traffic delays with diversions via Maiden Castle Road and the A35 in place.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance at the incident to deal with a small fuel spillage following the collision.
First Bus is diverting its service via the Bypass up to Monkey’s Jump roundabout then right into Poundbury, left onto Damers Road and then Great Western Road, then back on to its usual route.
A spokesman for the firm said this would continue until further notice.
