A CAR and motorcycle have been involved in a crash on Portland.

Police and ambulance arrived on scene at around 8am – the accident occurred on New Hill going up towards the Portland Heights Hotel.

The male motorcycle rider has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Eyewitnesses said that earlier no one was able to get up or down the hill, but traffic is now moving, although there are delays.

First Bus Dorset tweeted that the services 1 and 14 may be experiencing delays due to the accident.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said they were called just before 8am. He said: “There was one male casualty- the motorbike rider. He was conscious and breathing.

“He was taken to Dorset County Hospital for treatment – he was dazed and shocked.”

He added that he believed the motorcyclist’s injuries were minor.

In North Dorset, two lorries have collided on the B3143 Pulham near Dorchester.

Police said that it appeared to be minor injuries only. Ambulance crews were called, but stood down as the injuries were so minor.
