A WOMAN died earlier today after falling from cliffs at a Purbeck beauty spot.
Police, coastguard and the RNLI were called to Old Harry Rocks, Studland, this lunchtime, to reports of a person falling from the cliffs.
Both of Swanage's RNLI lifeboats were launched and the coastguard helicopter was deployed to the area along with coastguard rescue officers.
The body of a woman was later recovered.
A Dorset Police spokesman confirmed: “We received a call at 1.18pm to reports of a woman falling from Old Harry Rocks.
“Police officers and the coastguard attended the scene and located the body of a woman.
“The next of kin have not yet been informed and police are not treating this as suspicious.”
Becky Mack, from Swanage RNLI, confirmed both the inshore and all-weather Swanage lifeboats were involved in the operation.
“We were called to reports that a person had fallen from the cliffs and assisted with the search.”
