A pair of ponies rarer than the Giant Panda have arrived at Fancy’s Farm.

The two Eriskay Ponies arrived at the farm on Friday

There are less than 300 breeding females left in the world of the ponies from Scotland.

The ponies aren’t currently in the public area of Fancy’s Farm as they are semi-feral and are not used to being handled by the public.

Sue Illsley from Fancy’s Farm said: “They’ve been here since Friday and they are doing very well.

“They need training before they will be safe to be in the public areas at the farm because they’re not used to being handled very much at all.

The ponies, called Quintus and Quiver, both 15-years-old, needed a new home after their previous owner fell ill in Somerset.

The Rare Breed Survival Trust lists the ponies as critical meaning there are less than 300 registered female breeding pairs in the UK.

Fancy's Farm is a community farm and runs completely on donations, as well as the ponies they have the only rare breed Portland Sheep on Portland.
