DISCOUNT store Poundland has confirmed it will be opening a new store in Weymouth, creating new jobs for the area.
The Echo revealed last year the retailer had included shop units in New Bond Street - including one occupied by Starbucks - as part of a planning application. Starbucks closed in January.
Poundland’s Trading Director Richard Lancaster said: “Poundland has grown significantly over the past 12 months and it’s fantastic to see this expansion continuing with a new store in Weymouth.
"We’re looking forward to opening our doors."
The company could not give an opening date or say how many jobs would be created.
It is Europe’s biggest single price discount retailer and offers a range of items including top name brands for £1.
