A SEVEN-year-old has started fundraising young and is setting herself high standards for the future after completing a twelve-and-a-half mile sponsored walk.

Little Grace Browne completed the walk from her in home in Weymouth, to the Portland Olympic rings and back earlier this month with her proud dad by her side, to help boost a family friends' fund.

Before even finishing the walk Grace had already decided she wanted to do more to help raise further funds.

Grace's dad, Alex Browne said: "Grace was just fabulous. For someone who is so young to walk nearly a half marathon is great. She was totally determined to finish and she was so proud when she did.

"She has been a great inspiration to others, some of the children in her class are planning to do something too now.

"We were about ten miles in to it and she had already decided she wanted to do something bigger and better next time."

Ali Cadwell, a friend of Grace's mum, is trekking to Mount Blanc later this year in aid of Weldmar Hospicecare Trust as a thank you for their amazing services, especially with her father-in-law who sadly passed away.

After going to one of Ali's fundraising events over New Year, Grace decided she wanted to help raise some money and help boost Ali's funds and with the sponsorship of friends, family and classmates she managed to raise over £200.

Ali said: "Grace did it all off her own back. I went to meet her towards the end and as she was walking up the big hill she just had a huge smile on her face. She was really proud of herself.

"She has definitely got the bug for fundraising. Her walk has absolutely inspired my children to do something as well.

"They saw how well she had done and so I think they are planning something for the Easter holiday, which is brilliant. Any money we can get together will be great."

Grace's mum, Laura said: "I am very proud of her she did very well for a seven-year-old and it was all her own doing and off her own back.

"I know I might by slightly bias here but she really is a special seven-year-old who always wants to do what she can and help people."
