SUPERHEROES have raised $1,775,308 to help Dorset children’s charity Julia’s House – and Robert Downey Junior wants to make sure they hit the $2 million goal.

The Hollywood star has released a new video urging people to get involved in the charity raffle draw which will see one lucky fan jetting out to meet the Iron Man himself and attend the premier of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron with him.

The charity raffle is being hosted by Omaze, an American organisation that supports charities and provides opportunities for anyone to pay $10 and enter a draw for unique celebrity experiences.

The actor has promised the winner will get the full red carpet experience, including being flown to LA and staying in a four-star hotel, trying indoor skydiving and taking a helicopter tour, before getting fitted for a tux or gown for the big night.

Then the winner will get to sit down for a chat with RDJ himself.

Robert, who turned 50 yesterday (sun) posted a new video saying that as well as all the cool prizes he is also giving away his own personal Iron Man Mark 42 figure to raise money for charity.

Robert said that anyone helping fundraisers to reach their $2m goal would be in for a treat. He said: “I come bearing gifts… If we reach our $2m goal by midnight on Monday, all donors will find a never before seen clip from Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron in their inboxes on Tuesday.”

They will also be in with a chance of winning tickets to the London premiere.

Robert Downey Jr became interested in Julia’s House after he attended a fundraising event at the home of film director and Julia’s House patron, Guy Ritchie.

Robert posted a video from Julia’s House on his Facebook page, in it we get to meet some of the children helped by Julia’s House and hear who their superheroes are. From battling epilepsy and other conditions to having a sister whose superpower is to ‘make me laugh and also to annoy me,’ the children talk about what a superhero is to them.

Staff and children all join in at the end to say a huge thank you to Iron Man himself.

Martin Edwards, executive director of Julia’s House, appears in the video. He said: “We are so excited Robert is helping us in this way, Robert of course plays Iron Man- the world’s coolest superhero.”

At the end he adds: “Thank you to all the superheroes that have helped. We are hoping to build a second children’s hospice to look after many more children, so go on, click the link and be part of the ultimate Robert Downey junior experience.”
