THE streets of Lyme REgis will be reverberating with the sounds of song next month.

B Sharp's busking festival is back again on Saturday May 30 for a day of music on the streets.

The organisers say they want to build on the success of past years to bring a varied programme of musical activities all around the town.

The event kicks off at 11am on the Marine Parade with the popular ‘Play Me Piano’ with open mic slots for soloists and bands.

Also returning this year and popular with all ages and experience is a big drum circle workshop, in the Hub from noon to 1pm with Magic Drum workshop leaders Glyn Bush and Ralph Cree.

For those who want to improvise and play music together there’s the ‘Jam and Beats’ space in the Lister rooms from 2pm to 9pm.

Fran Williams, one of the organisers said: "The festival provides opportunities to play music of all kinds whatever experience and style, from rocking guitars, improvised jazz to tucked away treats, this is a magical music festival that has something for everyone.

"Musicians of all ages from the very young to the very old are invited to book a workshop, time to busk, play the piano or come and watch.

Pete Wild co organiser of the festival added: "This year B Sharp young musicians will be helping to run the various festival spaces themselves.

"We have expanded our team so we will all be taking our turn to keep the tunes flowing during the day.

"This year's busking festival coincides with the Jazz and Blues Festival so between us we will be getting the whole town sounding amazing and expect to be nicely surprised when some of the visiting professionals appear at any of the busking locations."

He said every year more and more people take part and with the drumming workshop and new spaces like the Jam and Beats room there is a mix of professional guests such as vocal coach Deborah Jordan and music producer DJ Simon Skofield.

who, along with B Sharp young leaders, will keep the vibes going with an upbeat, groove based session that incorporates decks, drums, keys, vocals and sax. All are encouraged to come and see what happens this year and to bring an instrument if you would like to join in.
