A LITTLE girl has a massive smile back on her face after her beloved toys were found.

Little Abby Ashton was delighted after a kind-hearted holiday maker found her missing back pack with her beloved toy dogs in and they will soon be reunited.

Last week the Echo appealed for help to find the missing toys who had gone on an adventure in the borough.

Abby and her grandma Geraldine West had been travelling on the number one bus from Fortuneswell to Weymouth and when they got off the bus, they realised Abby’s back pack was still on board.

Inside were Lucy the electronic dog, and Softy and Chocolate – two toy dogs.

They launched an appeal on Facebook and in the Echo to find the runaways.

Kind-hearted holiday maker Hannah Bushell spotted the backpack at the side of the road by a bus top in Southwell and took it home for safekeeping.

She opened the Echo, spotted the appeal, got in touch and the rest as they say is history.

She said: “I’m so glad. It was literally just by chance. I got off the bus and thought ‘what’s that?’”

She added: “It was completely by chance. I’m so glad they will be reunited.”

Hannah Ashton, Abby’s mum, said they were delighted that the toys had been found and thanked Mrs Bushell for her help and kindness.

She said: “Abby is absolutely over the moon.

“When she found out that they were safe she had a massive grin, started dancing around the living room singing and then ran outside to tell her sister and that night was the first night she has slept properly since they were lost.

“She did turn a little withdrawn and quiet when they were missing but now she is back to her usual cheeky self.

“Again thank you so much for your help you have made my family’s year.”

Mrs West went to pick up the toys from Mrs Bushell and gave her some money for ice creams with her children to say thank you.

She said the bus drivers had been kindly keeping an eye out for the pink back pack and were pleased to find out Abby would be reunited with her toys.

Mrs West said she was delighted they had been found and thanked Mrs Bushell.

She said: “I couldn’t believe it. I was absolutely astounded to find out where they were.”

Mrs West joked that they were blaming Lucy the electronic dog for their unexpected adventure as she is the only one that moves and joked that Softy and Chocolate must have hitched a lift to Southwell.

Mrs West will be delivering the toys back to Abby, who lives in Devizes, soon.
