SKATERS and BMX riders are set to turn on the style as the popular Dorchester Skatepark Jam returns for a seventh year.

The annual event is taking place on Saturday, May 23 and organisers are promising another fun packed occasion.

Skatepark users and local families will be treated to a range of entertainment including some stunning trick and stunt displays as well as stalls selling staking and BMX related gear.

There will also be a range of food on sale so people can come down and stay for the day.

The fun gets underway at 12noon, with registration from 11am.

The event is organised by the Dorchester Skatepark Committee, who have gained the support of nationally recognised industry names for the day including Maverick, the company that built the skatepark.

Director of Maverick Sue Mitchener said: "Maverick are excited to be involved in the annual Skatepark Jam in Dorchester.

"The Dorchester skatepark is such a great example of what can be achieved when a council works in partnership with a community group and the local police.

"There are many talented skaters and riders on the scene who have honed their skills on the Dorchester skatepark and it's great to watch them show off their amazing talent at the annual event.

"More details can be found on the Maverick Industries Facebook Page!”

The day is free to attend as it has been paid for by the organisers with support from West Dorset District Council and Dorchester Town Council.

There is something for all ages with participants from under 12s to 40 plus encouraged to come along and join in.

Anyone under nine must bring an adult to register them and all riders are advised to wear helmets and other suitable safety gear.

Emma Scott, community development officer at West Dorset District Council, said: "I am really impressed by the amount of great help this event has been given from the people who have organised it and those who are running activities and stalls on the day.

"The business support and sponsorship we have had has been outstanding and the additional stalls coming on the day will make this a really top quality event appealing to people of all ages."
