A main road in Beaminster is blocked both ways after a fallen tree brought down power cables.
Travel Dorset said the tree has fallen on Broadwindsor Road at the junction between St James and Redlands Lane.
Dorset Police said they were called to the incident at around 3.30pm today.
They said: "A tree is completely across the main road to Broadwindsor, blocking it.
"It looks as though it may have also brought down a power line.
"Officers are on the scene and the local authority has been informed."
A spokesman for Dorset County Council said workers are currently on the scene clearing the tree from the road, and a diversion is in place.
Western Power Distribution said: "We had a call from the police about this incident.
"We can't get anyone down there at the moment, but we will get our engineers there as soon as possible.
"We believe because of the pole number it could be a BT pole anyway."
