RESIDENTS in Charminster are urging people to support their local village shop while repair works take place on the bridge in the centre of the village.
The road closure at West Hill means that road access through to the shop is restricted.
However, villagers are stressing that the shop remains open for business and they can access it via the footbridge.
Brian Taylor said: "Please remember to support them whenever possible."
The bridge over the River Cerne is currently being rebuilt after concerns it was responsible for the flooding at the nearby church and homes with the work due to last until October.
English Heritage gave permission for the grade two listed 16th century bridge to be replaced with a new one with bigger arches.
Parts of the existing structure, including the parapets, will be incorporated into the new design.
