A MAN who admitted possessing drugs with intent to supply has received a suspended prison sentence.

Jack White Comben, aged 23, of St Leonard’s Road, Weymouth, appeared at Dorchester Crown Court after admitting possessing cocaine, a controlled drug of Class A, and cannabis, a controlled drug of Class B both with intent to supply.

The court heard that on December 5 of last year, at around 7.25pm, a police officer on patrol in the area of Upwey Railway Station saw Comben in his car.

Stuart Ellacott, prosecuting, explained the officer then witnessed ‘an exchange of items’ shortly afterwards between Comben and another person.

He said: “The officer then followed Mr Comben out of the car park, stopped him and said that a drug search was going to take place.”

The court heard Comben, at this point, revealed he had both cannabis and cocaine in his possession, which was later recovered by police.

Charles Gabb, mitigating, said his client had leapt into the situation without fully accepting what he was doing but had since made inroads to stop this occurring again.

He said: “From the time he was caught, arrested and confessed, it took only a week before he received active counselling. He is not therefore someone who takes this lightly.”

Comben received a sentence of imprisonment for two years, suspended for 21 months. He will be under supervision for 18 months and have to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work. Comben was also issued with a six month drug rehabilitation requirement.
