A ROAD near Dorchester will be temporarily closed for rail works.

Dorset County Council has said that the B3390 at Moreton Level Crossing will be closed for a distance of approximately 50 metres either side of the level crossing, from 11.45pm on Tuesday May 19 to 6.15am on Wednesday May 20.

This is to allow Network Rail to carry out urgent engineering works at the level crossing.

An alternative route will be sign posted and run from the northern end of the closure at Moreton Level Crossing and go northward through Affpuddle to the junction with the A35 at Tolpuddle Ball.

Then the diversion will go along the A35 to the Kingston Maurward Roundabout, then along the Dorchester Bypass to the junction at the A352.

From there motorists go along the A352 through Broadmayne to the Warmwell Cross roundabout. Then back northwards to the B3390 through Crossways to the Moreton crossing.
