THE opening of a revamped pub-restaurant in Weymouth has created 40 new jobs.

The Spyglass Inn, Bowleaze Coveway, recently closed for refurbishment but has now reopened as The Spyglass Inn Harvester.

It closed for an eight-week refurbishment and recruitment drive and now has a capacity to hold more than 400 people.

The refurbishment comes following Mitchells and Butlers’ acquisition of 173 Orchid pub sites in 2014.

Staff at the original Spyglass Inn were offered the opportunity to be transferred and trained and Harvester.

There were no job losses during the transfer.

General manager of the Spyglass Inn Harvester Max Gaffney said: “Bringing Harvester to Weymouth is really exciting for the whole team and guests have been very complimentary about the restaurant since it opened.

“The team are excited to welcome more guests into the restaurant and we would encourage anyone who hasn’t been to the Spyglass Inn Harvester to come and find out what we’re all about.”

Harvester has recently been voted the UK’s most family friendly restaurant in the Tommy Awards, which celebrate baby-friendly companies, for the third year running.
