STEP back in time as Portland Castle is transported back to the Second World War next month.

The castle on Liberty Road in Castletown will be brought alive with the sights and sounds of the home front in a special weekend event on June 20 and June 21.

There will be the opportunity to meet characters from the war, hear tales from the home guard and land army, visit a 1940s toy shop and see what afternoon tea looked like during rationing.

There will also be displays of books, clothes and equipment plus a display of letters and photos from a Fleet Naval Clerk who worked at the castle.

The English Heritage weekend event, taking place on both days from 11am to 4pm, is described as a great event for all the family.
