FIRE fighters have been called to Studland after a camper van caught fire in Ferry Road this lunchtime.
The emergency services were alerted at 12.37pm and the Studland ferry suspended services while a crew from Westbourne and one from Poole dealt with the fire.
A VW camper van has been completely destroyed along with a car parked next to the vehicle.
Dorset Fire and Rescue said two vehicles were involved in the blaze and neighbouring heathland also caught fire. The fire has now been extinguished.
Ferry Road was closed but one lane has now been reopened and police are managing traffic.
Firefighters remain on the scene and are damping down the area.
Studland ferry services are operating again as normal. An area of gorse and heath roughly 20x40m has also been destroyed.
