HUNDREDS of pounds in cash was stolen in two break-ins at pubs last week.

Police want pub owners and landlords to make sure their premises are secure after the break-ins in Charminster and Maiden Newton.

The first incident took place at the Three Compasses at Charminster on Monday, June 1 when thieves broke in to the pub via a side window and stole cash from the fruit machine.

The second incident took place at the Chalk and Cheese in Maiden Newton between 11.30pm on Wednesday, June 3 and 10.48am on Thursday, June 4.

An emergency fire door was forced open to gain entry to the pub and hundreds of pounds in cash were stolen from a fruit machine.

Pub owners are being urged to be on alert and to check their buildings’ security following the incidents.

Police do not know if the incidents are connected but want owners to be on alert after two similar incidents in a week.
