AN award-winning clown will enjoy a short residency at a Bridport theatre as he works on a new piece to take to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer.

Trygve Wakenshaw will perform at the Lyric from Friday (3) to Sunday (5) - performing his acclaimed show Kraken, before two performances of his new routine.

Physical comedy, Kraken, sold out at last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Starting with a brilliant and elasticated strip-tease, Kraken's entrance shows history repeating itself, first as a tragedy and then as a farce.

Oozing with whimsy and dripping with charm, rubber-limbed Trygve is his own animator in a cartoon world. Guileless and innocent, the award-winning Gaulier-trained clown is a physical comedian who has won several international awards.

New Zealand born Trygve studied at Ecole Philippe Gaulier, the prestigious Paris clown school with alumni including Sasha Baron-Cohen and Emma Thompson.

Now living in London, Trygve often tours in Australia and New Zealand, as well as a selection of UK cities, and presents his work to sell-out houses at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The shows are recommended for anyone aged 16 and over.

All performances start at 8pm. For more information, please call Bridport Arts Centre on 01308 424204.
