A Weymouth seafront hotel has been earned a spot in the first TripAdvisor Hall of Fame.
As part of the 5th anniversary of its Certificate of Excellence scheme, the online holiday review site has now introduced its Hall of Fame.
Only attractions, restaurants and hotels that have been awarded the Certificate of Excellence for the past five years have been included in the hall of fame.
One of these is the Bay View Hotel on the Esplanade, with its continued excellence of the past five years earning it a place.
The hotel has a five-star rating on the website from reviews provided by guests, showcasing the satisfaction the hotel has provided.
The award is part of a double celebration for the hotel as they are also celebrating their 20th year on the Weymouth seafront.
Co-owner Patrick Flynn, who runs the hotel with his wife Bernadette, and revealed the secret to running a successful hotel.
He said: “You have just got to have the rooms right. You have got to be friendly with the people and stuff like that.
“They need to feel like they are at home here.”
Mr Flynn said that guests who come and stay at the hotel feel like they are one of the family.
He said: “Guests feel like part of the family here. They come round like they’re staying at home.”
The hotel has been preparing itself for the summer season and is now busy week after week.
Mr Flynn said: “We’re busy all the time. Now the summer season is here we’ll be full.”
He also wanted to extend his thanks to all the guests who helped them win the awards but especially their regulars.
He said: “I’d like to thank all the guests. Especially the ones who keep coming back and back, time and time again though.”
Just nine percent of hotels, restaurants and attractions that won the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence this year have also been entered in to the Hall of Fame, showing just how impressive the consistency shown by the Bay View is.
Out of 364 reviews on TripAdvisor, 341 of them have rated the hotel as excellent, praising its friendly welcome and sea views amongst many other aspects.
