THIS week’s Weymouth ‘Go Spike’ Beach League held the June ‘King Of The Beach’ evening.

During this competition, the top eight ranked players during the month competed for the title.

The players play separately with a different partner in each match with the player who scores the most game points over the evening wins.

Usually this is a very close competition but this time England international and Weymouth star Ryan Stout dominated from the start and became the only player to ever win the maximum 90 points during the evening by winning every match he played in.

The other seven places were very tight but in second place was Carl Neale, third was James Tagart and, in fourth place, was Craig Bishop.

In the overall season rankings though, the top four positions were reversed.

Craig Bishop still leads the way from James Tagart in second place.

Carl Neale is third and Ryan Stout is in fourth place.

Stout cannot compete each week because of national training and therefore his overall ranking is brought down.

The B series was won by Liam Tewkesbury and Gary Cheeseman who continued their domination of this event this year by defeating experienced A Series player Matt Palmer and Mike Clark 21-16 in the final.

  • On Wednesday, an inaugural schools volleyball competition was held on the beach. This attracted 32 players from five different schools. Colfox school from Bridport took the title in a hard-fought competition.
